A new short-post series I am starting called “Moments with my children and other moments not with my children.”:
1.) “I WANTED TO PRESS THE BUTTON!!!”
“YOU CAN PRESS THE NEXT BUTTON!?!”
Is the exchange you’d have heard if you’d been in town around 10am yesterday morning.
Leo is very enthusiastic about traffic-light crossing buttons and gates. He will close each and every open gate he sees, with huge focus. (Specifically but not limited to front-garden gates.)
2.) Maia in urgent, emergency-type tones from upstairs: “MUMMMYYYYYYYYYYY!”
“Oh my god WHAT?!!!” I shout back, dropping my MacBook and running up the stairs.
“….We want to show you something! “
”Maia I stubbed a TOE running up here.”
*the children proceed to perform a delightful made-up handshake*
3.) “Leo would you like a _______*insert literally anything, food/action/activity*”
“Yes peas Mummy.”
*I proceed to prepare the food/ carry out the action/activity*
Me: “Here you go..”
Boy: “NOOOO I DON’T WANT________!!!!!”
The other day the action was simply leaving the car.
“I WANT TO GET OUT!!!!”
*lifts boy out*
“NO I DON’T WANT TO GET OUT!!!”
*puts boy back in*
“NO I WANT TO GET OUT!!!”.
4.) During a conversation about skincare at toddler group yesterday:
Me: I want your skin, it’s perfect!…”
Her: “Do you eat a lot of sugar?”
Me: “Oh yeh. Loads. I’m made of sugar and rage.”
