I’ve always resisted writing anything resembling a “facts about me” list, thinking it’d come across as self-absorbed and rather unnecessary. (But then you could say that about vast chunks of online content, my blog included.)
So here’s some self-absorbed and unnecessary for you; a short get-to-know-me list:
.) I’m a mother of two, a son and daughter, aged three and nine. I get “You’re too young to have a nine year old!” a lot, to which I reply: “I completely agree, I am too young.”
.) After being a “stay at home mum” (loathe that term, can we coin a new one), for nearly three years, dipping in and out of writing work, I now work part-time as a freelance copywriter.
.) Exercise still takes the form of bedroom dancing.
.) I’ve got my first bit of acting work next month, a one-off theatre performance. I don’t feel I can call myself an actor, as I don’t work regularly, though I hear that’s sort of the norm for most actors.
.) Solo European city adventures bring me great joy.
.) I’ve written “Honest Motherhood”, a twice-a-month column, for my local newspaper for four and a half years. It’s a grounding assignment and I’m meant to be writing it right now.
.) I love talking about creativity and recommend The Artist’s Way to every other person I meet.
.) Before having my son in 2020, I worked as a local trainee journalist and loved it, particularly the interviews, I felt privileged getting such an insight into people’s lives and stories.
.) I have to wear a bite guard at night because I’m so filled with angst I grind my teeth.
.) My front door is pink and still makes me smile.
