Maia’s Adventures: The Nativity

“I will honour Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year.”

-Charles Dickens, Ebeneezer Scrooge, A Christmas Carol

Yesterday was Maia’s nativity play and I didn’t expect to enjoy it as much as I did.

It was a heart-warming twenty minutes of joy.

We stood waiting for her to come out and I turned around and mouthed “I AM SO EXCITED” to Aimy.

Then they brought her out; a little angel all in white and silver tinsel.

She looked out into the crowd searching for my face and met me with this huge proud smile. I’d never seen her look so grown up and yet so much like my tiny baby girl all at once.

I was so proud of her – she knew most of the words and actions – I couldn’t stop grinning and nodding along as they made their way through each song.

It was all round a joyous event and we were are all rather mushy by the end of it.

I was particularly amused by the little boy who repeated “Daddy, Daddy, I need a wee. I NEED A WEE DADDY” several times.
