“silly girl
little angel
little devil
so oblivious to
being the miracle worker
you are the mother
the magician
the master of your life”
– Rupi Kaur, home body
I’m not a huge poetry fan. But I make an exception for Rupi Kaur.
Her writing is too powerful to ignore.
I devoured each of her books, turning page corner after page corner down, wanting to soak up every healing word.
If the expression “touched my soul” ever applied, it would be reading Kaur’s poetry.
I’ll read her words to my daughter one day.
“how can i be so
cruel to myself
when i’m doing the best i can
– be gentle”
– Rupi Kaur, home body
“most importantly love
like it’s the only thing you know how
at the end of the day all this
means nothing
this page
where you’re sitting
your degree
your job
the money
nothing even matters
except love and human connection
who you loved
and how deeply you loved them
how you touched the people around you
and how much you gave them”
– Rupi Kaur, milk and honey
