Book of the Week: A New Earth, Awakening to your Life’s Purpose

“The primary cause of unhappiness is never the situation, but your thoughts about it. Be aware of the thoughts you are thinking.”
– Eckhart Tolle, A New Earth

If there was any book I’d want to force-feed to all of humanity, it would be this one. The world would be a better place to say the least. Each sentence is one enlightened thought after another. Packed with wisdom and truth, there is no big life question Tolle fails to answer.
Whenever I am feeling anxious, (or any negative emotion generally) I put on an Eckhart Tolle clip on Youtube, or have a read of this book. I found it a beautifully calming and clarifying read, much more readable than the Power of Now, more understandable and therefore enjoyable.
Eckhart Tolle will always be my favourite spiritual teacher.

“If uncertainty is unacceptable to you, it turns into fear. If it is perfectly acceptable, it turns into increased aliveness, alertness, and creativity.”

“Don’t let a mad world tell you that success is anything other than a successful present moment. And what is that? There is a sense of quality in what you do, even the most simple action. Quality implies care and attention, which come with awareness. Quality requires your Presence…
Your entire life journey ultimately consists of the step you are taking at this present moment. There is always only this one step, and so you give it your fullest attention. This doesn’t mean you don’t know where you are going, it just means this step is primary, the destination secondary. And what you encounter at your destination once you get there depends on the quality of this one step..What the future holds depends on your state of consciousness now.”
